Decorate Your Kegerator For Independence Day

Decorate Your Kegerator For Independence Day

Independence Day, which is celebrated on the 4th of July each and every year, is a day to celebrate America’s independence, as well as all things that makes this country great. The holiday is observed by most businesses and is a federal holiday, which means that not only can you celebrate the freedom of our country, but you can celebrate your freedom from the workplace, at least for one day. Independence Day is a big day for parties, parades, BBQs and celebrations.

And, where there are celebrations, there is a place for kegerators. If you own a kegerator and are hosting this year’s 4th of July festivities at your house, you can supply cold, fresh tasting beer to your guests right from the tap. This is usually a big hit, since an icy cold beer on a hot summer’s day is not only festive, but refreshing. Even if you are not hosting this year’s Independence Day celebration, you can still bring the cold draft beer (make sure it’s a domestic brand!) to the party if you have a portable mini kegerator. Your host is sure to appreciate that!

When July 4th rolls around, no matter where the social gatherings take place, there is almost always plenty of red, white and blue to go around. You’ll find flags flying, red, white and blue balloons blowing in the wind, red, white and blue paper goods and decorations, and even some red, white and blue food. So, why not join in the patriotic spirit by not only filling your kegerator with great tasting, American beer, but also decorating the appliance in red, white and blue so it can become a centerpiece of the celebration?

Decorating your kegerator in patriotic colors is fairly easy to do. Depending on the size of your kegerator, as well as the exterior surface material, you have a few different options. For example, if the exterior surface of your kegerator is metal, you can attach magnets in the form of American flags on it. You can wrap your kegerator in red, white and blue boas, leis, or even crepe paper. You can even use patriotic looking tablecloths to cover your kegerator – all you need to do is to cut them down to size. Using vinyl tablecloths is best so any drips from the kegerator do not ruin the decorations.

If you really want to get into the holiday spirit and decorate your kegerator in a patriotic motif, whether just for the 4th of July holiday or all year long, you can buy a kegerator wrap that is custom made specifically to fit the exact specifications of your kegerator. Kegerator wraps are made from vinyl wrap, the same type that is used to wrap cars and trucks with advertising graphics, and can be the perfect way to customize your kegerator and proclaim how proud you are to be an American. See our post on Halloween Kegerators.

There are many ways that you can decorate your kegerator for Independence Day. And while it is not necessary to do so, a few red, white and blue inspired decorations on the exterior of your kegerator can subtly enhance the appreciation of the great tasting, refreshing American beer that’s on the inside.

What Does Dad Want For Father's Day? A Kegerator, Of Course!

Father's Day Kegerator

Just like Mother’s Day comes along once a year to celebrate moms all over the world, Father’s Day is a day reserved for celebrating dads. In the United States, Father’s Day is designated as the third Sunday in June, although in other parts of the world, it may fall on a different day.

Like Mother’s Day, many people take time on this day to spend time with their dads, to tell them how special they are and to give them gifts to show their appreciation. The problem is that many are often stumped as to what to buy dad for Father’s Day, other than a tie (which he probably doesn’t really need.) Moms are a little easier – they are often happy with flowers, candy or a gift certificate to a spa or restaurant. Buying for dad can be a little trickier sometimes.

If your dad or your husband likes to drink beer, the perfect Father’s Day gift may be to buy him a kegerator. A kegerator is the ultimate in man-gifts for those that love beer. It’s a novelty item that he may not buy for himself, and is something he probably doesn’t already have. So, unlike another tie that will hang in his closet unworn, the gift of a kegerator will be appreciated, enjoyed and used over and over and over. In fact, giving dad a kegerator may be one of the greatest gifts he’s ever received – except of course the gift of having you as his child.

Kegerators come in all sizes and with a variety of different functions. There are single tap kegerators and multi tap kegerators to choose from, depending on how much variety you want to give dad for his beer tapping pursuits. There are kegerator-fridge combos, so if you know that dad likes his beer, but mom prefers wine and would be more inclined to let dad keep the kegerator if she could chill her wine right beside it, then you may want to opt for this option. There are even mini kegerators that can be put on a table top or that dad can take with him if he enjoys going camping, boating or tailgating. Or if he simply needs to leave the house in order to enjoy his beer.

Along with a variety of sizes and functions, there is a variety of kegerator prices as well. Mini kegerators can be bought for around $100 or more, while some of the bigger kegerator models can cost as much as a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. How much you are willing to spend so dad can have his very own draft beer dispenser will depend on your budget, whether you are chipping in with others in the family, and more, but rest assured that at least the money you spend on a kegerator will be money well spent. Dad will get much more use and enjoyment out of a kegerator than he will out of another tie, or a tool set, or something that he doesn’t really want or need.

So, if you’re stumped about what to get dad this upcoming Father’s Day holiday, make your gift something that really shows how much you appreciate him by getting him a kegerator.

This Memorial Day, Bring the Kegerator To The BBQ

The last Monday in May, known as Memorial Day, is a date that is anticipated by many throughout the United States all year long. This is because while this federal holiday was enacted as a way to honor all those brave individuals that have given their life during military service to our country, Memorial Day also signifies the “official” start of the summer season.

Memorial Day Kegerator

Memorial Day is a big day for parties, social gatherings and barbecues. It is a day to hang out outdoors, assuming you are lucky enough to have some nice weather where you live, and to revel in the fact that this outdoor celebration is just the beginning of a fun-filled and sun-filled summer. Of course, it is also a day to take some time out of our busy schedules to honor our fallen heroes. So, if you’re headed to a BBQ this Memorial Day weekend, why not bring along your portable kegerator?

Very often summer BBQ’s are low-key and easy going. Everyone brings something to join in the fun, so the day can be spent enjoying each other’s company outdoors rather than having to slave away in the kitchen. Someone may bring the potato salad, while another guest brings corn on the cob or watermelon. So, for your Memorial Day barbecues, as well as just about all summer outings, why don’t you make yourself known as the Kegerator Guy – the guy that brings along his portable kegerator? Being the Kegerator Guy is probably a sure-fire way to make it on many a summer BBQ guest list.

The great thing about bringing a portable kegerator to a Memorial Day BBQ is that you have an easy and convenient way to dispense cold, fresh beer while enjoying yourselves outdoors. No need to keep running back into the house to grab a few cold ones from the fridge, and no reason to have to clean up all those cans and bottles at the end of a warm summer day. Just tap your portable kegerator and you can have cold, flowing beer all day long without ever leaving the sun.

Portable kegerators are generally known as mini kegerators. They are given this name because they are smaller than standard size kegerators and because they are designed to fit mini kegs in them. A mini keg is a 5 liter keg, although some mini kegerators will even hold 6 liter mini kegs as well. All you need is an outlet to plug the appliance into, and your mini kegerator will keep your beer chilling at a perfect 38 degrees Fahrenheit all day long. Just tap the keg for some cold draft beer whenever you’re in the mood, and continue with the enjoyment of the day.

The great thing about a portable or mini kegerator is that it’s portable. Since the device is small enough to fit a mini keg inside, it makes it also small enough to easily transport with you wherever your social plans take you. All you need to do is to bring along your portable kegerator, along with a mini keg or two of your favorite beer (you can store extra mini kegs in the fridge until they are ready to be called into service), and you’ve got an easy and much anticipated contribution to any Memorial Day barbecue. And if you haven’t tapped out the keg by the end of the day, you can just bring the extra beer home with you for your own future enjoyment.

This Mother's Day, Let Mom Tap The Kegerator

Let Mom Tap The Kegerator

Mother’s Day is a day set aside for honoring our mother and is celebrated almost all over the world. It began as a U.S. holiday, being celebrated on the second Sunday of May each year, although over the years the holiday has been adopted by many other countries, and the timing of the holiday may differ depending on where in the world you are. In some countries, Mother’s Day is tied to a specific religious date or has been combined with dates that were already designated to honor mothers, such as Mothering Sunday in the United Kingdom. But no matter where you or your mother may reside, the holiday is always celebrated sometime in either April or May.

When Mother’s Day rolls around, many people try to find ways to make their mom feel extra special and to give her a chance to relax from the everyday rigors of being a mom. This may include such niceties as bringing her breakfast in bed, sending her flowers, or taking her out to eat so she gets a day off from being in the kitchen. In some households, mom is given an opportunity to totally relax and to be pampered, such as taking a trip to the spa or sharing a quiet drink undisturbed by the kids after dinner.

If your mother, or your wife, the mother of your kids, enjoys having a beer or two on occasion, why not give her the chance to tap the kegerator and enjoy some delicious, fresh tasting beer on this special day? Her enjoyment of the kegerator, which has long been your coveted home appliance, can be one enjoyed in solitude or with a crowd, depending on her desires.

If your wife or mom can use some uninterrupted time, along with a drink to unwind without the kids around to bother her, then give mom the gift of relaxation by taking the kids out for the evening so she can enjoy some solitude in the comfort of her own home. A little “alone time” and a trip or two to the kegerator may be all she needs to rejuvenate herself and to get her ready to dive back into motherhood once you and your brood arrive back at home.

If, however, your mom or your wife prefers a more social celebration on Mother’s Day, why not gather the family for a nice family meal? While many opt to take mom out to a restaurant so that she doesn’t have to cook, you know how crowded restaurants can get on this, one of the busiest days of the year in the restaurant business. So, instead, why not invite the rest of the extended family over to your house? Order in some food, or better yet wow mom with the culinary skills of the men in the family (just be sure to clean up to so mom can relax!), and then spend the afternoon or evening sitting around the kegerator, having a few drinks and a few laughs, and letting mom know just how special she really is.

Now, while you may think that suggesting a drink from your coveted kegerator is an extra special gift, just be sure that your mom or wife can appreciate your kegerator as much as you do. If you know that you mom hates the fact that you own a kegerator, then it’s probably best not to draw too much attention to it on this day. If your wife prefers wine to a draft beer dispensed from a kegerator, then by all means break open a bottle of wine, and save the kegerator tapping for a day set aside to honor the men in your family, such as Father’s Day. Letting mom tap the kegerator, either alone or as part of a big, noisy family gathering, can be a great way for her to enjoy the day, as long as you know that the suggestion will be met with a positive reaction. After all, Mother’s Day should be all about making mom happy!

Is A Mini Kegerator An Appropriate Gift For Administrative Professionals Day?

Gift For Administrative Professionals Day

Formally known as Secretary’s Day, Administrative Professionals Day falls on a Wednesday during the last full week in April each year. It is not a legal holiday, or even a federal holiday, but has become an unofficial holiday that is recognized by corporations and businesses, both large and small, as a day to show appreciation for support staff. Administrative professionals generally include administrative assistants, secretaries, and receptionists, but can also be expanded to include anyone in an office that offers a supportive role and that deserves to be recognized for their efforts once a year.

Administrative Professionals Day is often marked by giving gifts to your assistant or support staff as a show of your appreciation for all they do for you all year long. While these gifts often tend to be in the form of flowers, candy, gift certificates to restaurants and spas, or even an extra day off, many business professionals try to find a gift that is more unique and looks like some thought was put into personalizing the gift.

So, with that being said, is a mini kegerator an appropriate gift for the administrative professional in your life? That depends. If you know that the gift recipient enjoys a glass of beer once in awhile, then it can be a great gift. A mini kegerator not only dispenses just any old beer, but good beer. Just like when you go to the bar and opt for the draft beer because it tastes so much better than the selections in a bottle, a mini kegerator provides that great draft beer taste right in the comfort of your own home.

One nice thing about giving a mini kegerator as a gift is that it may be the type of gift that your assistant may not buy themselves. It is a touch on the pricey side when it comes to novelty gadgets, so a mini kegerator can be an indulgence for someone on a modest salary. Therefore, you may be surprised by how excited your assistant is to have their very own mini draft beer dispenser!

Another reason that a mini kegerator can be very appropriate as a gift on Administrative Professionals Day is that it is a gift for your assistant or secretary that allows them to relax and unwind. Very often, business professionals look for gifts like that to give on this holiday, since their assistants work so hard all year long. That is why gifts like spa gift certificates, restaurant gift certificates and extra time off are so often given, as well as coveted. A gift of a mini kegerator can have the same effect on someone that enjoys unwinding at the end of a day with a nice cool drink.

Mini kegerators are also attractive to look at and are a great addition to home bars, game rooms and even gourmet kitchens. A mini kegerator is also a great idea for those that love to entertain outside, whether by the pool or in the backyard – and for those that like to party on the go, such as by tailgating at sporting events or concerts or going camping. So, if you know that your support staff person is someone that loves to entertain, and they are not a teetotaler, then a gift of a mini kegerator can be a unique gift that shows that you appreciate the hard work they do for you all year long.

Easter Eggs, Easter Bonnets, the Easter Bunny… and a Kegerator?

Easter Eggs, Easter Bonnets, the Easter Bunny... and a Kegerator?

Easter is a springtime holiday that always falls on a Sunday between the dates of March 22nd and April 25th, depending on the year. It is a religious holiday, but like Christmas, it is one that has developed many secular traditions over the years as well.

The celebration of Easter is a Christian holiday, and commemorates the date of the resurrection of Christ. It also marks the end of Lent, which is characterized by a period of penance and prayer. Therefore, Easter Sunday is also seen as a day of indulgence and enjoyment of those things that have been given up during the period that precedes the holiday.

The Easter holiday is filled with all things fun and enjoyable. Whether that is Easter baskets filled with loads of candy or brightly colored Easter eggs that have been decorated with abandon, the day is also always filled with a big holiday feast, usually shared with family and/or friends. So, what’s the connection to all of these Easter related icons and a kegerator? Well, a kegerator certainly fits the bill for “all things fun and enjoyable”, doesn’t it?

If we’re talking about indulgence and celebration to mark the end of a period of time in which we have given up certain habits in order to repent, then it is very likely that drinking beer is on the list of many an adult that have chosen to give up the beverage during the Lenten season. Therefore, it is on Easter Sunday that the coveted brew can once again be enjoyed. And what better way to enjoy a beer after abstaining for a period of time than from a kegerator, where you can be sure that the beer than flows from that kegerator spout will be fresh, cold and delicious?

Of course, the holiday is also a day to share a big meal with those closest to you and to indulge a bit if you want. So, whether that is too much candy, or a few brews from your kegerator, you should take solace in the knowledge that today is a day that it’s okay to just enjoy yourself. If the celebration is at your house this Easter, and you happen to own a kegerator, certainly make sure that you have enough beer to go around in order to be able to satisfactorily quench the thirst of all the adults in the house. After all, the kids will probably be stuffing themselves silly with candy all day, so you should all have a chance to enjoy the contents of your kegerator as well!

When you are planning your upcoming Easter family get-together, make sure you have all of the essentials to celebrate the day. A delicious dinner, most probably with ham taking center stage as well as all of the delicious fixings to go along with it, lots of candy, a bunch of brightly colored and beautifully decorated eggs, a couple of really frilly pastel-colored Easter bonnets, and a kegerator with some delicious tasting beer inside (if you only have a mini kegerator, that’s fine, too – you’ll still have plenty to go around and you can always make sure you have a spare mini keg or two waiting in the wings in case you need to tap into it). You may even want to add a few little special surprises delivered by the Easter Bunny, but that’s entirely up to you. As long as you have your family and friends around, the rest of the holiday “essentials” are just icing on the cake.

Let a Kegerator Help You Deal With Tax Day

Let Your Kegerator Help You Deal With Tax Day

Tax day is one of those days that make many people cringe. The thought of April 15th, and the knowledge that your taxes must be completed and mailed to the IRS by that date (not to mention the hefty sums that you may have to send in with your tax return), has caused that mid-April day to be one that is met with a bit of disdain. That is, unless you are an accountant, and then you know that April 15th is the day you get your freedom back and stop working 15 hour days to get everyone else’s tax returns completed in time.

Either way, a kegerator is one of those unexpected accessories that may be a welcome addition to your April 15th routine. Whether you are dreading the day because you know that you need to send your taxes in and you owe a lot of money, or you are on the other end of the spectrum and eagerly anticipate the day for months because you know it is when life returns to normalcy, there is definitely a place for an afternoon or evening spent worshipping your kegerator.

Think of it this way – if you’re in a crappy mood because the government is taking all of your hard earned money in taxes, what better way to stop worrying about things you can’t control than to grab a frosty mug, mosey up to your kegerator, flip the kegerator tap so that a bit of liquid gold comes pouring out to fill that mug, and then take a seat to enjoy the rich, fresh taste of your draft beer while you let your worries roll off your back.

If one trip to the kegerator isn’t enough to cure your tax day blues, then the answer is relatively simple – just take another trip or two back to that kegerator until you start to feel better. Just make sure you don’t make too many trips to your favorite draft beer dispenser, unless tax day falls on a weekend this year, because tomorrow you have to head back to work to start earning a bit more to give to Uncle Sam next year, and also of course, to refill your kegerator.

If, on the other hand, you are one of the many accountants that makes their bread and butter during the months preceding tax day, but works their fingers to the bone during that time, then April 15th is a day worth celebrating. No longer will you need to work long, grueling days, dealing with other people’s financial woes. It’s back to business as usual for the rest of the year, or at least until New Year’s Day rolls around. But before that relaxing schedule starts to set in, it’s worth also celebrating the fact that tax day for you as an accountant is like Christmas in April, since it is the time of the year that brings you the most financial reward.

That celebratory day is another reason to enjoy the contents of your kegerator. If you have a mini kegerator, you may even want to consider bringing it into work so as soon as the last tax return is mailed, your co-workers and you can start the celebration with no wasted time. Of course, if you plan on bringing your mini kegerator to work, be sure to check with your boss first, or it may be the last tax day you are employed at your current place of business.

So, if you are looking for a great way to deal with tax day, whether to beat the tax day blues or to celebrate the end of a long, difficult work schedule, a large paycheck and the beginning of a more normal life for the rest of the year, then grab a mug and head to your nearest kegerator.

Your Kegerator Can Save You Some Green On St. Patrick's Day

Your Kegerator Can Save You Some Green On St. Patrick's Day

March 17th of each year is virtually defined by the color green. Everywhere you look on that day in mid-March you will find people wearing green, will see streets and buildings decorated in green, and you’ll even find people eating green bagels and drinking green beer. Why? Because it’s St. Patrick’s Day, of course!

If ever there were a holiday that went hand in hand with ownership of a kegerator, it would be St. Patrick’s Day. When most people think of this holiday, they think of wearing green and drinking some type of alcoholic beverage – usually beer. It doesn’t matter whether you’re Irish or not when March 17th rolls around. Everyone is Irish on St. Patty’s Day! And almost everyone wears something green and probably has a drink or two (or more!) in celebration. In fact, St. Patty’s Day is noted as being one of the biggest days for the consumption of alcoholic beverages, and also one of the busiest days for bars, especially those with a bit of the ol’ Irish in them.

While it is certainly fun to hit the bars and pubs along with the rest of the crowd, a day spent pub crawling can get pretty expensive – and pretty ugly – by the end of the day. So, if you’re looking to save some green on this, the greenest of all holidays, then invite a bunch of friends over to your place to enjoy your kegerator!

If you don’t want to foot the bill for all the beer consumed from your kegerator, because it might get rather pricey to be filling the mugs of some very “Irish” people that day, have a St. Patty’s Day keg party where everyone contributes a small fee but you organize the festivities and supply the kegerator filled with beer. Or you can foot the bill for all the beer your kegerator can hold and ask your guests to supply the food. Either way, even if you wind up paying for it all, you will be enjoying a day of celebration in honor of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, amongst all of your friends, right in the comfort of your own home.

What’s so great about having a kegerator inspired party in your home on St. Patrick’s Day rather than hitting the bars? Well, for one, you are surrounded by just your friends, rather than a bunch of drunken, rowdy people that can get obnoxious or even cause unwanted trouble. You also don’t have to deal with all the crowds at the bar or in the restaurants and all that comes with that, such as long wait times, difficulty getting to the bar to place your drink order, and more.

Another benefit to hanging out around your own kegerator is that you don’t have to drive home at the end of a long day or night of celebrating, or figure out another way home. By having the party at your house, you still have all the benefits of heading to a bar, since you have the great tasting beer in your kegerator to wet your whistle, but you don’t have to deal with potentially dangerous traveling. And you can even ask your guests to stay if they’ve made a few too many trips to tap the kegerator.

So, when St. Patty’s Day rolls around and you start making your plans for an appropriate celebration of the patron saint, consider the benefits that your trusty ol’ kegerator can provide. Not only can it help you save some green, but it may make your friends green with envy that you have your very own draft beer dispenser right at home. But that’s okay – being green is what St. Patrick’s day is all about, after all!

What do President's Day and Kegerators Have in Common?

Presidents Day and Kegerators

Every February, our nation celebrates the birthdays of two of our greatest presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, on a federal holiday known as Presidents Day. The holiday is always celebrated on the third Monday in February, although Washington’s birthday is actually on February 22nd, and Lincoln’s is on February 12th.

On President’s Day, government offices are closed, as are most schools and many businesses. But what does this holiday, that falls smack in the middle of the coldest part of winter, have to do with kegerators? Well, probably absolutely nothing. There were no kegerators around back in the days of Washington and Lincoln, although we’re sure that they still sat around and had their share of “adult” beverages back in the day. But, it is after all a celebration of a birthday – in fact, two birthdays – so what better way to celebrate a birthday than to break out the kegerator and have a party!

Ok, so it might not be your birthday, or even your friend’s birthday, but nonetheless, it’s a day off from work and a nice long weekend at a point in the year where you can desperately use a day off from trudging to work through slushy and icy covered roads, teeth chattering as your car tries to warm up as it skids down the road. So, what better time to gather some friends, set out some good (warm!) food, and let the kegerator start flowing? Call it a birthday party if you want, but even if you don’t, it’s a great excuse to have some fun with family and friends.

If you’re one of the lucky ones that uses this long weekend as an excuse to get away for a few days, whether it’s to hit the slopes with skis or snowboards in hand, or just to cozy up next to a fire in a cabin in the mountains with your sweetie, be sure to bring along your mini kegerator if you have one, to save you from coming home with a big bar bill from the local tavern in the mountain town you are visiting.

By bringing along a mini kegerator on your trip, you can enjoy a nice mug or two of beer with your significant other or a bunch of friends (depending on who you’re with) in the comfort of your hotel room or comfy cabin. If you have a fireplace where you are staying, this is the perfect place to enjoy a drink from your mini kegerator as the snow gently falls outside. If you are vacationing with your kids, you can enjoy a quiet adult beverage once the kids go to sleep, rather than just grabbing a soda and a bag of chips out of the vending machine down the hall.

The best thing about bringing along your mini kegerator on a trip like this is that you don’t have to worry about driving on snow covered or icy mountain roads after you’ve spent some time over dinner and a few drinks. Of course, you should never do that anyway, no matter where you are, but it’s vacation time, so it’s nice to know you can still have a few drinks to relax and unwind right in the comfort of the place you are staying.

So, while its hard to find much of a correlation between Presidents Day itself and kegerators, there is certainly a time and a place for enjoying the contents of a kegerator – and celebrating a birthday (even if it’s a few presidents that lived long before your time) or relaxing on vacation are two perfect “kegerator moments”.
