Kegerator Forum: "oh, don't worry about it!"

So I'm new to the home kegerator community, and I really appreciate any help y'all can give. I've got all my parts and the fridge was free. Double checked to make sure it worked, and did research saying that I shouldn't worry to much about hitting cooling lines, especially before I got through the insulation. I cut the sheet metal out, didn't see anything, and started to cut through the insulation and hit a copper line that immediately began spraying. The weird part is that the line seemed to be outside of all the insulation (right near the metal, rather than closer to the inside of the fridge) there is a water dispenser inside the door of the fridge, but it's not hooked up to water right now. I plugged the fridge back in and as the motor ran, the line began hissing again

The real question is.... Did I murder my fridge but being too flippant about searching for coolant lines? Is there a reasonable (under$30) fix that doesn't involve solder? Or is it done for and just needs to go to the edge of the driveway?

Thanks again for your help!
