Kegerator Forum: Keg builds pressure between beers

Hi,

I built my own kegerator from a tap that was given to me. It turned out pretty awesome once I found all the correct parts for the hoses. I can get beer to pour with no foam, beer tastes fresh and crisp.
The problem I'm having is the first beer poured each day starts out with a burst of pressure, like the keg builds pressure when its sits for more then two hours. Is this normal?
My CO2 is sitting at about 9 to 10 psi, I've done the calculations for line length, size of line the works. I've played with pressure higher or lower and other then making the dreaded foam it seems to always "pop" pressure when I start. If I pour another beer within a 1to 2 hour window its fine no "pop" of pressure. Anything longer then that and it "pops".

If its sort of normal i can live with it, just the first beer gets a good head going on lol

I don’t think that’s normal. I’m new to kegerators myself. But I did notice my first year with it that having a good quality regulator makes a bit of a difference. I noticed with the stock parts with my store bought model being poor quality. My regulator would be set at 9-10lbs. Draw a beer or two and I look and it’s at 15lbs.! Not even screwing with this thing this year until I replace everything!
