Ok, I have had my kegerator for several years and have gone thru the normal ups and downs but recently I had an issue that I have not been able to fully understand or fix.
One day I went out to my kegerator and found the the shank in the tower had separated and beer had flowed down the tower to the top of the keg, coating and then freezing on my coupler. Of course clean up was a pain. The shank was the original so I got a new shank, which is very similar to the one that was there. Everything else is the same equipment. I noted at this time that my CO2 tank needed to be refilled. Did that. First thing that happened was that my beer was VERY foamy and I lost all my CO2 overnight. I chalked the CO2 up to a leak at some connection, though I could not find a lead with soapy water.... Anyway, another refill in the CO2 tank and we are back in business. Still VERY foamy. Went thru the entire 1/4 barrel and now on another and it is so foamy I cannot draw a beer. I have adjusted the CO2 down to nothing and up to 12 lbs. Same but the more pressure the worse the foam. Yesterday I shut the CO2 tank off and tried to draw the beer/pressure off but, even after a couple of full pitchers of foam and glasses of foam it still was delivering nothing but foam - it did slow down though. Question is: What happened originally and what is still wrong? Anyone ever see this before? |
