Kegerator Forum: Avanti BD7000

hey all, first time here. Glad to join!

I just purchased the Avanti BD7000 kegerator. I'm planning on building a small bar (against wall) with a granite top to match kitchen and will have the unit built in with a wine chiller and cabinets. My question is, will it be ok to build it in the bar against the wall? I am planning to keep unit a few inches away from wall and add a fan for more circulation. Im not about to pay 2G for so called enclosed units if this one will do. It will be indoors and ventilated well with a fan so I hope it will be ok. What do you guys think? Thanks again and glad to find a forum that works for me! John

Hey John,

The units made for under counter install have a rear or front fan mounted near or on top of the compressor to push away heated air and cool the unit down, so as long as you make enough ventilation for the compressor to get cooled off and add in some type of fan you should be ok. It's only when people mount free-standing style units with zero clearance with no air circulation around it do you start getting over heating and possible fire hazards.

bought 2 box fans to place in rear at compressor and will build the cabinet to leave 3 inches from wall in the back and 1/2 inch on sides.  I hope that will do it.  just wondering if I should place the fans directly blowing on compressor or down to dissipate the heat build up.
