Kegerator Forum: Advice for a Kegerator Virgin

Hi everyone -

Hoping I can get some advice from the experts.  After doing some research, I purchased a kegerator kit online.  For my husband's birthday, I am planning, with the help of some friends, on installing a kegerator in our basement so that the line will come up through the kitchen and dispense in a bar area.

How difficult is the coversion of a fridge to kegerator if you have the right kit?  Becuase there is going to be extra line going from the top of the fridge to the tap, does any one have tips for insulation of the line to prevent limit warm spots and foam as much as possible?  Any other tips, or things I should know about before starting??

Thanks in advance!

Nice present. Do you have a sister? Your infor a chore and more money expense to route beer lines. Converting the fridge to a kegorator is easy but insulating the lines outside the fridge is doable but requires a chiller that pumps glycol in a closed loop line that runs alongside the beer lines. Then, it and the beer lines are insulated and sealed. You will also need a special tap that can cycle the glycol through it. Any warm spots in the line or tap can cause problems or dissatisfaction. I don't recommend this for beginners. It will only pay off if you do alot of beer drinking entertaining that bars do.
