I have a brand new kegerator setup on my porch now. I had it in use a few years ago but it sat for quite some time. Here is the setup i have.
1/2 barrel of Miller Lite (picked up the other day) Normal tap with the push down handle 20lb co2 bottle with a regulator from harbor freight My co2 lines are 1/4 inch ID and my beer line is 3/8 ID Both the lines are an even 5 foot long. I put together the line system into a normal sized fridge so I could fit the half barrel in there. I put the air line to the side connection of the tap and the beer line on the top. I let the keg sit in the fridge for about 30 hours to chill down to 40 so there would not be any issues with transport foam. First thing I did when I tapped the keg was to let the air out of it with the small valve on the side of the tap. I pulled the lever on the dispense nozzle and got nothing. I then turned on my co2 and set it to about 8 psi to start with. I waited about 30 min due to the air rushing into the keg for it to settle. I tried pouring a few glasses from it and all i get is very thick foam that does not dissipate quickly. I opened the door and can see that there is barely any bubbles in the clear line going to the spigot. Do you think something is wrong with my setup? I am really new to this and am clueless. I have read so many articles on how to do it right, but cant seem to get it. Could the spigot be pulling air from someplace to make all the foam since there is liquid beer in the line before it? I dont want to waste a half barrel so i thought I would ask the pros. thanks in advance for any advise. |
