Rather than locating taps on a kegerator (as I have seen on the web) I intend to run about 12 feet of line from the basement kegerator location to a small bar area on the floor above. I have not seen such an arrangement on the web. Can you think of any good reasons why not? The lines would, at least, be insulated (that is, if I couldn't run a refrigerant line along with them). Thanks for the input![]() |

Have you had any luck with this project? I'm planning to do the same thing, although my fridge will be outside so I'm going to have to run the lines through the fridge and through the house wall.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome. |

Distance is only a problem for keeping the beer cold. The closer to the keg the colder the beer will be and stay. An exception is if you are useing a chiller. Realize though that it adds another expense to your setup. But, even that doesn't always work. I know of a bar that put its taps about 50 ft from the kegs and even with a chiller has problems with keeping the beer cold and fresh tasting.
Another serious downside is line cleaning. I'm not saying it isn't possible, you just have to be aware of the practicality. |
