Kegerator Forum: Kegerator Cooling & Foam Problems

Hey so I am new to this forum so bare with me. About 3 months ago I took a used Magic Chef 3.6 cft fridge and turned it into a double tap kegerator . As a result of it being smaller than i anticipated, I had to cut out quite a lot from both sides and the door of the fridge. Even so the fridge still cooled fine for the first few months. During that time I had one torpedo in the keg. I had some similiar foam problems with the kegerator but after re-tapping, it was fine (also no cooling issues..temp around high 30s).

Sorry For the long background. Anyway now i have two kegs in there (it takes a little force to make them fit) the coolant line is still in tact and  when on the freezer compartment (cooling plate) will develop a block of ice on it about 1/2 in. thick rather quickly. The door also wont seal so temp is in the 50s (and even if I bungee it closed the fridge still only gets to mid to high 40s)

I know this is partly whats causing the foam but i don't believe its the only reason. Is their anything I can do to help this btw I keep the co2 at around 6-8...I have had it much higher and lower, yet nothing changes, and the beer comes out really quickly no matter what psi?

I appreciate any help I can get, as I only paid 20 for the fridge off of craigslist im considering getting a larger one but id rather not if i dont have to.

I can email anyone pics if it helps...

If you're getting a block of ice around it, it's probably having a defrosting problem. What will happen is it will go into defrost, the water will have no place to go, and when everything kicks back in it just refreezes over and keeps building up.

Not an expert on home built ones, but that's my take on the problem.
