Purchased a Frosty Keg Kegerator about a month ago. After hooking up everything, found that the CO2 gauge was not working properly (PSI would not go below 20 PSI). So I left the keg tapped and disconnected the CO2 gauge and sent it back to the company (Discount Tommy). I just got the gauge back after 12 days and it appears to be working (had to take it to a fire extiguisher company), but now I hookup the CO2 to the keg, set the PSI to 10 and all I get is foam (5 pitchers). Tried lowering the PSI, but got the same results. Is it to late for the 1/4 keg since it was sitting for more then a week without CO2 ? I'm at a loss and very frustrated. Can I unhook the keg coupling and retap it ? Is the 1/4 keg of Miller Lite ruined and I should go purchase another ? Any help would greatly be appreciated. |

There's something I was taught at my distributor that might help. It's called a keg shakedown. You need to shut off the CO2, bleed all the air out of the keg, then shake the barrel a few times, and bleed the air again. Repeat this step a few times then hook the system back up. You might still have 20+ PSI trapped in the keg and have over carbonated the beer.
We had a keg come back a few weeks ago that was 40PSI in the keg. Gave it a horrid taste and blew out of the line extremely fast. |
