Just bought a Sanyo fridge and I want to turn it into a keg fridge, but it doesn't stay very cold. Is there someway to control the temperature? I loked for a control knob , but can't find anything. |

Is it the Sanyo 4910M or 4912 fridge? I have taken many temp checks at different shelves and temp levels wit the 4910M and have gotten the fridge to go as low as 20F on the bottom. The problem that I find with it is, there is a big difference between the top and the bottom in temps. I plan to use a small fan such as a computer fan to blow air up-wards to the top of the fridge and another to blow air up a tube to the tower.
From what I have heard and observed, you will need to get some kind of air flow to the tower (if you use one) because pritty much no air will get up there to cool the beer for the first mug. ~Jason |

Thanks Jason...
Its the Sanyo 4910M. Yea...I was worried that the tower might get no air flow causing hot beer on the first draw. You are going to use PC fans? Is there a specialty type of fan made just for the purpose of cooling kegerator towers? Just have seen other people talking about it on other forums. Wonder if there is a need for a "kegerator cooling tower fan" type of product out there. |

Yes there are fans or "blowers" made for cooling tap towers out there. I plan on fitting 2 corny kegs and a 5LB co2 tanks inside the fridge so I wont have much room. IThats why im thinking computer fans due to their size, but im sure there are better ones out there.

Instead of a computer fan, I think a bathroom exhaust fan might be better. The NuTone 696N fan is about $10 and will mount up to a 3" hose. I just bought one and it is overkill for the air that is needed, but still small enough to fit on the back ledge so it can get the air from the coldest part of the fridge. I guess ill branch the hose up into two so that one can go to the tower and the other just to the top.

That fan is perfect! I just got mine in the mail and mounted. It is overkill, but I'd rather there be more cool air being pumped into the tower than not enough. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Congratulations on using the fan. I have bought it but have not put it in yet. It does seem to be a bit loud so I’m thinking of cutting out a few fan blades or hooking it up to only turn on when the fridge is on. Can you post pics of how you mounted it?
Thanks ~Jason |

Man...I actually had to pull the fan out because of the noise. Still working on another solution. |

The fan I think would be a very good buy for someone who is keeping the kegs in a different room and needs to run cooled lines to the tower. So a small sanyo 4.9 it is too much. Im trying a small fan ment for RV fridges now. I put it in front of the bottom of the cooling plate and ran a tube up to the top. This way it gets the cold air from the plate when the fridge is on and when it is off it can circulate the cold better. |

Make your fist pour into a pitcher. That way it'll all be cold when you pour it into a glass. Put a ziplock bag with ice in the pitcher to keep it cold enough until you polish it off. Sometimes I even use the 1 gallon insulated bubba keg from wally world. |
