Thanksgiving is a holiday that is noted for giving people an opportunity to give thanks for all that they have. For good health, good friends, close family ties, an abundance of food, and all of the niceties that life has bestowed upon us. Okay, we know that sounds a bit shallow, maybe even a bit ridiculous. After all, who needs to give thanks to a mechanical device that does nothing more than dispense cold beer? It’s not like a kegerator is something that saves lives or pays the bills, or even something that puts food on our table. But, if you give some thought – deep thought – to what benefits kegerators can provide, you may just realize that they really are worth offering a bit of thanks for when you’re checking off your list of things to be thankful for.

So, what’s so great about a kegerator that makes it worth giving thanks for? Here are five reasons to consider:

1. Kegerators save us money. If you like to drink beer and drink more than an occasional sole can or bottle, then owning a kegerator can save you money. Buying a half keg of beer is much less expensive than the cost of buying the equivalent amount of beer in cans or bottles. One half keg of beer holds as much as about 165 cans of beer! And having a beer kegerator at home is a lot cheaper than heading to the local bar anytime you’re in the mood to have a few drinks.

We’re not advocating that you go home after work each day and drink loads of beer to forget the cares of the day, but the truth is that an occasional drink or two is a great way to relax and unwind after a long, stressful day. And reducing stress helps people to live longer, healthier lives. So, while a kegerator itself is not exactly a “healthy living essential”, it does have its place in making our lives more relaxing and less stressful.

But, get a few people together and add a kegerator into the mix, and it is sure to be a great way to enjoy some good times with family and friends. 4. Kegerators allow us to enjoy good tasting beer. Yes, it’s true. We don’t need beer in our lives to be happy. But, for those who like the taste of beer, there’s nothing better than the taste of a nice, cold draft beer that comes right from the tap. Most people will agree that draft beer tastes better than beer from a can, or even from a bottle. We give thanks for other things that bring enjoyment and happiness to our lives, so why not good tasting beer (and kegerators)?
5. Kegerators are good for the environment. Saving the earth is certainly something to be thankful for, and kegerators are more eco-friendly than you may realize. If you own a kegerator, then you don’t need to buy cans or bottles of beer, saving precious resources. Kegs are returned, cleaned out and reused so they don’t harm the environment the way a bunch of cans and bottles do. Even if those cans and bottles are recycled, the process utilizes resources that can be saved by drinking beer from kegs.
